Just Andersen, an Art Deco Disko metal beaker vase, Denmark, circa 1935, marked to the base ‘Just‘ within a triangle for Just Andersen, ‘Danmark‘ and number ‘159’, cast with a male figure wrestling a lion, and also a male figure with a female sat upon his knee, all amongst scrolling stylised fruiting vine, some water staining within the vase and some small slight blemishes consistent with age, 11.5 cm high and 9 cm diameter (Ref S515)

Just Andersen formulated Disko metal himself and took its name from Disko Bay in Greenland where he was born and lived his formative years. The exact mix of constituents making up Disko metal went to the grave with Andersen though it is known to contain lead, antimony and tin.
