Peter Cullman, an 18 carat gold eight stone diamond set modernist ring, South African, circa 1970, signed ‘Cullman‘, ‘C’ for Cullman, ’18ct’ and indistinct trade mark, each of the eight brilliant cut diamonds set with four platinum claws and estimated as weighing a total of approximately 0.8 carats, the shanks oval aperture measuring approximately 18.25 mm across and 15.6 mm from top to bottom, weighing 18 grams gross (Ref S+2362) SOLD

H Peter Cullman; Born in Berlin, 1941 – 3½ years apprenticeship as goldsmith at Idar-Oberstein, followed by 6 semesters at Fachhochschule für Gestaltung (Staatliche Kunst und Werkschule), Pforzheim (with fellow student Bernd Munsteiner). Graduate Gemologist (GIA), Los Angeles. Emigrated to South Africa in 1963. Worked at several workshops until 1966, including Egon Wegrostek, Johannesburg.

1966-1967 – worked in Montreal, Canada, then travelled through the U.S.A. and Mexico.

1967 – returned to South Africa, opening his own studio at Fanora House, Johannesburg. Participated at International Jewellery Exhibitions at Handwerksmesse, München (Schmuck 71, Schmuck 72).

Won awards in each and every of the Intergold jewellery competitions organised by the Chamber of Mines, Johannesburg, including the overall first prize in 1972 and 1974.

1977 returned to Canada. Chief designer for Lucas Jewellers, Montreal.

During 1979-2003 had own studio and store in Yorkville, Toronto.
